Test Websites and Apps for Pay

Verified on Sep 8, 2026

You test a website or app and talk out loud while your screen and voice record. Userfeel pays $3-$30 a test. UserTesting says one test pays up to $60. Userlytics pays $10-$50. UserTesting shows each amount in your dashboard. Userfeel says there is no set number of tests. UserTesting says most testers take one or two a week. Userfeel asks for a computer, phone, or tablet with a working microphone.

What you do

Companies want to know if their website or app works well. They pay real people to try it and share their thoughts.

You get a task list. You visit a site or open an app. Then you do what the task says. One task might be to find a red shoe and add it to your cart.

While you work, you say your thoughts out loud. This is called thinking out loud. You explain what you see, what confuses you, and what you like.

Your screen and your voice get recorded the whole time. The company watches the recording later to see how real people use their site.

Three platforms hire testers this way: Userfeel, Userlytics, and UserTesting. Each one works a little differently, but the basic job is the same on all three.

Some platforms use a short test first, before you can take paid work. This is called a qualification test. Userlytics says it sometimes asks testers to take one.

What it pays

Each platform sets its own pay per test. This is money for one finished test, not an hourly wage.

Userfeel pays $3 to $30 per test. Each test lasts 5 to 60 minutes. Most Userfeel tests run 20 minutes and pay $10.

Userlytics pays $10 to $50 per study.

UserTesting does not give one standard rate on the tester pages we could read. It says your dashboard will show the amount you get paid. Your dashboard is the page you see after you log in.

UserTesting’s company FAQ says you can earn up to $60 for a test or interview. That is the most it says a test can pay. It is not what a usual test pays. Some of its help pages would not open for us, so we cannot say what they list.

Here is the most important thing to know. Userfeel says there is no set number of tests. You might get no tests for a whole year. UserTesting says most people who test for them do just one or two tests a week.

That means you cannot turn a test price into an hourly rate or a monthly total. A $10 test does not mean $10 every 20 minutes, because the next test might not come for days.

Pay does not land the same day either. Userfeel moves paid tests into your account wallet about a week after approval. Userlytics pays once every 15 days, automatically, on a Friday. UserTesting usually sends payment about 14 days after you finish a test.

Taxes work differently too. A 1099-K is a tax form. Userlytics does not send its own tax form. Its help page says PayPal sends one if you receive more than $5,000 in a year. The federal rule for payment apps is higher now: over $20,000 and more than 200 payments in a year. UserTesting does not take any tax out of your pay. You must report it yourself.

Who this fits

This fits you if you like giving your honest opinion out loud.

It fits you if you do not mind being recorded, screen and voice, while you work.

It fits people almost anywhere. UserTesting says it has testers all over the world, not just the US. Userfeel says its testers work from more than 40 countries.

It fits you if you have no special experience. UserTesting says you do not need any.

It fits you if you want occasional extra money, not a set schedule. Tests come and go. You take what is offered.

It fits you if you already own a computer, phone, or tablet with a working microphone. Userfeel asks for one.

Who should skip this

Skip this if you need steady, predictable income. Userfeel says there is no set number of tests. UserTesting says most testers take one or two a week.

Skip this if you dislike hearing your own recorded voice, or being watched on video while you work.

Skip this if you are under 18. UserTesting says you must be at least 18 to join.

Skip this if you cannot spend unpaid time up front. Userfeel does not pay you for its qualification test. UserTesting does not pay you for its practice test either. You may have to finish this step before you can earn anything.

Skip this if you need your first payment fast. Payouts take about a week to 15 days, depending on the platform.

Skip this if your device has no working microphone, or you cannot get one. Userfeel says your device needs a microphone. We did not confirm the equipment rules for Userlytics or UserTesting.

How to start, step by step

  1. Pick one platform to start: Userfeel, Userlytics, or UserTesting. You can sign up for more than one.
  2. Check that your device has a working microphone.
  3. Sign up on the platform’s site.
  4. Take the qualification test or practice test if the platform asks for one. Userfeel and UserTesting do not pay for this step. Userlytics sometimes asks for one too.
  5. On Userfeel, watch the required training video. You will not get paid if you skip it.
  6. Set up how you get paid. Userlytics and UserTesting both pay through PayPal.
  7. Wait for the platform to match you with a paid test.
  8. Do the test. Think out loud the whole time.
  9. Submit your recording and wait for approval and payment.

Your first week

Day 1. Sign up for Userfeel. Check that your device has a working microphone.

Day 2. Watch Userfeel’s required training video, so you are set up to get paid later.

Day 3. Sign up for UserTesting too. Its full application, with the practice test, takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The practice test alone takes 7 to 10 minutes.

Day 4. Check both dashboards for any open tests.

Day 5. If a test is open, take it. Talk out loud the entire time.

Day 6. Submit your test. Also check if Userlytics has offered you a qualification test.

Day 7. Check your Userfeel wallet and your PayPal account for any payment. Userfeel tests reach your wallet in about a week.

Tools and things you might need

You need one main thing: a computer, phone, or tablet with a working microphone. Userfeel asks for one. These tests record what you say out loud.

If you need to buy an outside microphone, Userfeel says even the cheapest ones, around $2, will work.

You also need an internet connection, since you take each test online.

  • Computer, phone, or tablet with a working microphone Userfeel says your device needs a microphone, since tests record what you say.
  • External microphone Only needed if you have to buy a mic. Userfeel says even a cheap one works. You can start without it.
  • Stable internet connection You take each test online.

The downsides

Two costs come before your first payday. Userfeel does not pay for its qualification test. UserTesting does not pay for its practice test either. You do unpaid work just to find out if you qualify.

Userfeel has one more rule. If you skip its training video, it will not pay you, even for a test you finish.

The three platforms do not pay you on the same schedule. Userfeel moves money to your wallet in about a week. Userlytics pays every 15 days. UserTesting pays about 14 days after your test. Keeping track of three different payout dates takes some effort if you use more than one platform.

The biggest downside is how few tests you can count on. Userfeel says there is no set number of tests. You might get no tests for a whole year. UserTesting says most of its participants take just one or two tests a week. This is not a job with regular hours. It is closer to occasional extra cash. Some weeks it may pay nothing at all.

Taxes are on you. UserTesting takes no tax out of your pay. You have to track and report your own earnings.

Questions people ask

Can I turn a test price into an hourly rate? No. Tests do not come at a steady pace. Userfeel says you might get no tests for a whole year. A test price is not the same as a wage. A $10 test is Userfeel’s usual 20-minute size.

Do I get paid for the qualification test? Not on Userfeel or UserTesting. Both say the qualification or practice test is unpaid.

How fast do I get paid after a test? It depends on the platform. Userfeel takes about a week. Userlytics pays every 15 days. UserTesting pays about 14 days after you finish.

Do I need to be a certain age? UserTesting requires you to be at least 18.

Will I owe taxes on this money? UserTesting does not withhold any tax from your pay, so you must report it yourself. A 1099-K is a tax form. Userlytics’ help page says PayPal sends one past $5,000 in a year. The federal rule for payment apps is higher now: over $20,000 and more than 200 payments in a year.

What we could not confirm

  • We could not find the lowest age Userfeel asks a tester to be.
  • Userlytics says you must be old enough to sign a contract. If not, a parent can sign for you. It does not give one age number that works for everyone.
  • We could not find whether any of the three sites run a background check on testers.
  • We could not find a yearly dollar amount where Userfeel or UserTesting say they will send you a tax form.
  • We could not find whether Userlytics pays testers for its qualification test. Userfeel and UserTesting both say clearly that this test is unpaid.
  • We could not find how much a tester earns in a typical month. The sites give the pay for one test only.
  • We could not find a usual dollar amount per test on the UserTesting pages we could open. The only figure we found is the 'up to $60' line on its company FAQ. Some of its help pages would not open for us.
